An electronic payment system is a collection of specific tools and procedures that allow the virtual transfer of money without the physical passage of cash. The most widely used means of electronic payment is the payment card, which consists of a physical or digital medium, which contains the data of the holder and of the card itself, such as name and surname, the card number, the circuit to which the card adheres , the financial intermediary (bank, financial company or company operating in financial services) that issued it, the expiry date, etc. During the payment procedure, these data are read by the devices supplied by the person receiving the payment or, if the payment is made via the web, communicated by the payer through a specific page of the website dedicated to the payment and, if no anomalies are found, enable the transfer of the money, by the financial intermediary or the issuing company, from the cardholder to the creditor. The system then registers the amount, the date, the card details and the payment recipient. Among the other methods of electronic payment there is the electronic transfer which allows the transfer of money from your current account to that of the creditor through the home banking service. These systems include online payment platforms that act as telematic intermediaries between creditors and debtors, allowing the exchange of money between different Payment Service Providers (PSPs), each belonging to one of the parties to the transaction. Each system is identified by a specific identification code.
